"Together in beauty, we learn, grow, and achieve."

Dennehotso Boarding School believes every student should have the opportunity to learn and achieve their fullest potential. The traditions and beliefs of our Navajo community promote a harmonious life for each student within our learning environment. The Dennehotso student’s life features individualized academic services, group activities, and enrichment programs that foster holistic learning, student growth and development, language/cultural education, and athletic and artistic abilities.

Afterschool Homework Support/Tutoring

Students wanting to advance and keep pace with their classmates and graduate on time can meet with tutors after school for additional support with homework. Making arrangements with specific teachers or staff members gives students the necessary one-on-one attention outside of the classroom they need.

College and Career Readiness

Dennehotso Boarding School students can pursue academic and professional interests as they prepare for middle school, high school, college, and beyond. Students receive the educational, emotional, technical, and cultural support they need to become graduates and professionals. Our educational program develops responsible Navajo citizens and lifelong learners. We carefully guide students through a holistic curriculum that prepares them with a successful life plan.

21st Century Programs

21st Century Programs provide learning opportunities outside of the classroom and regular school hours. Learning centers are established throughout the community where students can participate in various activities across many disciplines. The 21st Century Programs provide academic enrichment for students interested in math, science, art, music, telecommunications, and advanced technologies.

Navajo Language/Culture

Dennehotso Boarding School students learn to express and identify with their Navajo language and culture. Knowledgeable teachers, community members, and Tribal leaders share valuable lessons, workshops, activities, celebrations, and tutorials on the Navajo tradition and heritage. Our holistic curriculum provides instruction in Tribal language and culture as approved by the local school board.

Athletic/P.E. Programs

Physical fitness and education are priorities at Dennehotso Boarding School. Students’ minds, bodies, and spirits develop through our sports competitions and various P.E. programs. Our students increase self-confidence, build character, and develop leadership skills as they participate in sports teams and athletics. Sports seasons strengthen our school community as we unite to support our student-athletes.

STEAM

Students can be introduced early to science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) programs. Starting in early elementary, students engage with the basic principles of creation, building, problem-solving, and creative expression. As students learn the core academics of English, math, and science, they apply them during various STEAM activities. Students will have many opportunities to participate in STEAM throughout their enrollment at Dennehotso Boarding School.
